A massive escalation in the Russia-Ukraine War as Russian drone strikes hit the historic city centre of Lviv, a designated UNESCO heritage area.
Officials say Russia launched nearly 1,000 drones within 24 hours, marking one of the largest attacks since the war began. The strike caused fires near the 17th-century St. Andrew's Church and Bernardine Monastery, damaging culturally significant structures.
Multiple people have been killed and dozens injured across Ukraine in the wave of attacks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike, calling it “absolute depravity” and accusing Russia of deliberately targeting cultural heritage sites.
